October 9, 1876 --- August 1, 1957

Mrs. Frank Boaler, 80, died Thursday evening, Aug. 1st in Mercy hospital, Fort Dodge, where she had been a patient but a few hours. Death was due to a heart condition. She had been in failing health since early spring but only seriously for 10 days.

Mrs. Boaler is survived by one daughter Miss Editha Boaler. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Kastler Funeral home, in charge of Rev. John Nelson Taylor, minister of St. Mark's Episcopal church Fort Dodge. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery and casket bearers were S. S. Bragdon, M. B. Crabbe, John Henneberry, E. J. McGrath, Gerald O'Toole and Kenneth Spangler.

Mrs. Boaler was born in Hingham, Wis., and spent her early years serving the nursing profession. She was a graduate of the nursing school of Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wis., and afterwards was the first superintendent of the Soldiers' Home in Milwaukee. It was while living in Milwaukee, she met and married Frank Boaler. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1954. Mr. Boaler died in January, 1955. The Boalers were living in Fort Dodge in 1932 when Mrs. Boaler suffered a broken hip and it was while she was convalescing she took a hotel management course by correspondence. In 1934 they purchased the Hotel Grove and moved to Eagle Grove. Mrs. Boaler was a happy, gracious hostess and year after year guests returned to stop for a short visit or even to spend their vacations at her Hotel.

Mrs. Boaler was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister. Attending the funeral from out of town were Mrs. N. C. Rice of Algona; Mrs. Florence Sullivan and Miss Margaret Garland of Des Moines, Mrs. Charlotte Whalen of Ames; Mrs. Julius Albrecht, Clare; and Dr. and Mrs. F. R. Scott of Goldfield.
