August 9, 1881 ---- March 18, 1970

Grace A. Barnard, 88, 1801 20th St., died at Mary Greeley Hospital Wednesday at 10:45 p.m. after a short illness. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. from Adams Funeral Home with the Rev Roy C. Key of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial will be at the Violet Hill Cemetery at Perry. Miss Barnard, was born Aug. 9, 1881 at Lexington, Ill. She attended Grinnell College and graduated from Chicago University. Later she was employed as a commercial teacher and taught in Goldfield, Perry, and Mason City. She came to Ames in 1967 from Mason City. Miss Barnard was a member of the First Christian Church. She belonged to the Retired Teachers Assn., Delta Kappa Gamma, and Chapter IW of the PEO Sisterhood in Mason City. Survivors include three nieces, Mrs. Ruth Long, Madrid, Mrs. Eleanor Chinkers, Macon, Ga. and Mrs. Marjorie Fellows, 111 Lynn Ave.; and three nephews, Hubert Reichenbach, Madrid, Fred Reichenbach, Grimes, and Donald Wilcox of Jefferson. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and five sisters.
