1825 --- February 23, 1905

William Campbell was born in Ireland in 1835 and came to America in 1876, settling first in Tipton, Cedar county, where he lived for four years, moving from there in the spring of 1887 to a farm north of Renwick, where he lived with his sons until the fall of 1899, at which time he bought for himself a home in Renwick. Mr. Campbell was married to Margaret Sweeney in 1854 and to this union were born five children.

He leaves his aged wife with whom he has shared the joys and sorrows for more than fifty years, two sons and their families here and one daughter in Ireland to mourn his loss. Mr. Campbell, at an early age united with the English Episcopal church in Ireland, and has ever since remained faithful to his belief.

The funeral services were held at the Methodist church in this place, neighbors and friends paying their last respect to a good neighbor, kind husband, and a loving father.... He lived an honest, upright, life and died February 23, 1905, aged 70 years.
