Walter Howard Slininger, 61, of Bellevue, Neb., died May 8 at Midland Community Hospital. Walter was born Jan. 14, 1944, in Jefferson to Howard and Bertha Babb Slininger. Walter was a graduate of the University of Iowa and enjoyed spending time reading. Walter worked for Child Support Recovery Services in Iowa and Nebraska. Walter is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ann Marie. Walter is survived by his wife of 40 years, Katheryn Slininger; sons, Gregory Slininger and wife, Carmon, Jeffrey Slininger and wife, Anika, Jason Slininger and wife, Angela; five grandchildren, Nolan, Jacob, Emma, Abigail and Jonah; nephews, Stephen and David White; many other family and friends.

Visitation will be tonight from 5 to 8 at Henry-Livingston Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Evangelical Bible Church, 7820 Fort St., Omaha. A cremation will follow the service. A luncheon will be held following the services at the church.
