Mabel Marie Bernard was born April 5, 1896, at Woolstock, la., the daughter of Adolph and Caroline Bernard. She was educated in the Woolstock School. For the past 62 years, she had made her home in Eagle Grove, where she worked as a housekeeper and church worker. Mabel was very active in church work, as a youth leader in the MYF, Girls' Guild, Sunday School Teacher, and many other activities. She had, for many years, devoted much of her time to delivering Sunday School papers to those who had missed Sunday School, and visiting the shut-ins.

She died at the Friendship Haven Health Center, Ft. Dodge, on Sunday, Nov. 3, after a long illness. At the time of her death, she was 78 years, 5 months and 28 days. She is survived by one brother, Harry Bernard, Squaw Lake, Minn.; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Comstock, Eagle Grove, and Jessie, Mrs. Morris Fritz, Chatham, N.J. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, George and Wayne. Mabel was a member of the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove.
