March 2, 1914 --- January 3, 1922

Katherine Beth Yon, youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Yon was born on the farm near Eagle Grove, March 2, 1914, and died in Eagle Grove, January 3, 1922, at the age of 7 years, 10 months and 1 day. Little Beth was a child who was loved by everybody who knew her because of those qualities of lovable childhood so prominent in her nature. She was critically ill for five weeks, four years ago, which left her little body in a weakened condition. Three weeks ago she came home from school at noon and complained of being tired. She asked to rest a while for she did not want to remain out of school. On returning home that evening she had a temperature. Physicians were called and everything was done for her known to medical science but they could not fight off the Death Angel who won His victory shortly before one o'clock on Tuesday morning.

Little Beth's death was caused by rheumatism of the heart with the complications which attend such trouble. Her sweet patience during her intense suffering touched the deepest emotions of the hearts of all who knew her. One had only but to know her to love her. She was devoted to her day school and to her Sunday school. She was a member of Mabel Bernard's class. She wanted the stories read to her in which she took delight up to the end of her strength.

It is fitting that mention should be made of the untiring devotion of her auntie nurses, the Zinser sisters who were, constantly in attendance.

Funeral services will be held in the Methodist church Thursday at 2:00 o'clock , the sermon to be given by the pastor from the text found in Mal. 3:17. The immediate members of the family are Mr. and Mrs. Yon, Wyatt, Alpha, and Paul, who have the sympathy of the entire community in their great loss. Little Beth had many relatives and a host of friends who will greatly miss her.
