October 18, 1897 --- February 13, 1949

Julia Alpha Uhlenhopp, eldest daughter of J. T. and Emma Yon, was born at El Paso, Illinois October 1897 and lived for a few years in that community before moving with the family to this vicinity where she attended and graduated from the Eagle Grove schools. In 1924 she was united in marriage to C. J. Uhlenhopp of Kesley, Iowa who survives along with five children: Mrs. Betty Haupt of Ames, Harold J., Mrs. Bonnie Buss, Wesley and Roger of Shell Rock, two grandchildren, her mother, Mrs. J. T. Yon of Eagle Grove and her two brothers.

At an early age she united with the Methodist church of Eagle Grove and has remained an active member of the church, Sunday School and Woman's Society of Christian Service of the church. Her health began to fall several months ago and grew progressively worse until she passed away quietly at the home of her mother early Sunday morning, February 13th. Her family and friends will miss her because of her devotion and the courage with which she met life's problems.
