August 22, 1950 ---- November 1, 2014
Curt L. Palmer, the son of John "Jack" and Lillian (Lund/Wier) Palmer was born on August 22, 1950, in Belmond, Iowa. Curt grew up on the family farm east of Renwick and attended the Boone Valley Schools, graduating high school in 1968. The summer after graduation he started working construction in southern Minnesota where he met Linda Kay Sailor. The two were united in marriage exactly one year after their first date on June 24, 1969.
Curt worked at Cargill and Farmers Co-Op a total of 8 years. He then worked alongside his brother Randy for Palmer Construction for 4 years before establishing his own business, The Carpenters. He also ran the Renwick Lumber yard for 6 years and took on several independent carpentry jobs before his health caused him to seek retirement in 2007.
After 14 years of marriage Curt and Linda welcomed their son, Chad Michael, on February 2, 1984. Over the years Curt and Chad worked side by side, completing construction projects and fixing cars. After many years of being a race fan, Chad and Curt decided to build their own car and began racing in 2000. Together they spent hundreds of hours working on cars and at the track. Curt served on the Renwick Fire Department for 35 years, and was fire chief for a number of those years. He was also an EMTB with the Renwick Ambulance for 19 years and on the Renwick town council for 17 years.
Curt died on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Rotary Senior Living, Eagle Grove at the age of 64. Curt is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Chad (Courtney) Palmer, grandchildren, Nash Racer, Saylor Belle; brothers, Randy (Penny) Palmer of Renwick, IA, Rick (Kris) Palmer of Luck, WI; brothers-in-law, Perry (Carolyn) Sailor, Tom (Ami) Sailor, 7 nieces, 9 nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews that were very special to him.
