Marilynn Cayler, 70, of Galt passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Clarion Wellness and Rehabilitation Center in Clarion. Memorial services for Marilynn Cayler will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church, 420 1st Street North West in Clarion with Pastor Roger Kallem officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Visitation for Marilynn Cayler will be held one hour prior to the memorial service at the church on Saturday.
Marilynn K. (Pallesen) Cayler was born May 29, 1944 in Jewell, Iowa to Harold and Darlene (Caroll) Pallesen. She grew up in Jewell and graduated from Jewell High School in 1962. Marilynn married Gerald “Jerry” Cayler on December 22, 1962 in Jewell. The couple lived in various places before settling down in Galt, Iowa in 1974. Marilynn worked for many years as a bookkeeper for the family business. She loved to read and bake, her specialty being chocolate chip cookies. She also owned a trophy race car. Family always came first to Marilynn, she cherished the time she spent with them. Marilynn was always a fierce money manager, keeping the checkbook balanced to the penny. Memorials in Marilynn’s name may be made out to The American Cancer Society for breast cancer research.
Marilynn is survived by her husband Gerald; children Matt (Julie) Cayler of North Liberty, Iowa and Robin (Doug) Bisel of Dundas, Minnesota; grandchildren Sam Cayler, Sydney Cayler, Mekenzie Bisel, and Nate Bisel; brother-in-law Ron (Jerrine) Cayler of Clarion; niece Karen (Rick) Ehmen and their children Rhett and Reid of Dike, Iowa; nephew Rob (Stacey) Cayler and their children Lucas and Hannah of Clarion, Iowa; and extended family and friends. Marilynn was preceded in death by her parents and brother Michael.
