March 30, 1950 --- October 2, 2014

Forest City, IA -- Daniel James Blau, 64, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2014, at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, surrounded by his loved ones. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Monday, at First Grace Baptist Church, Sheffield with Rev. Ken Livingston and Rev. Larry Day presiding. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery, Visitation will be 1 hour before the service at the church.

Daniel was born at Steele Memorial Hospital, Belmond, to Aeiko and Mary (Collins) Blau, March 30, 1950. He graduated with the Sheffield High School class of 1969. Dan farmed with his father until he began working at the grain elevator in Klemme and later went to work at Winnebago. He was employed for over 30 years before his health restricted his working. Daniel was united in marriage with Patricia Ann Keough, August 2, 1969. To this union 2 children were born; Ann Marie and David James Blau. Dan enjoyed fishing, traveling, tinkering on cars and machinery, visiting with friends and family. He gave his life to the Lord early in life and tried to live for Him.

Dan leaves to mourn his passing, his wife of 45 years: Patrica, Forest City; mother: Mary Blau, Sheffield; daughter: Ann Marie Rheingans (fiance Delbert Hinderacher), Forest City; son: David Blau, Forest City; grandchildren: Steven Blau, Forest City; Cordell Rheingans, Forest City; sisters: Peggy Lou Bueker, Spencer, Wisconsin, Rosemary Blau, Sheffield; brothers-in-law: Terry (Nancy) Keough & Joesph Keough; sisters-in-law: Jacqueline (Keith) Reich & Tina Keough; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Daniel is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and maternal grandparents, 2 nephews, several aunts and uncles and one brother-in-law. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be make to Dan's family.
