Larry Dale Donaldson was born August 29, 1940, in Iowa City, Iowa. He was raised in a foster home at 6 months of age by Sylvia and Martin Mehl and and Sylvia and Michael Bludnick of Vincent, Iowa. Larry farmed for his foster parents and many farmers in the Vincent area. Larry met Rose Williams on June 26, 1963 and they were united in marriage on November 30, 1963, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on November 30th, 2013. Larry worked for Nissen Packing Co. as a beef lugger and truck driver. He then became a over-the-road truck driver for the next 46 years until his retirement in the fall of 2007. After retiring he worked for local farmers, Gary Fisher and Larry Olson. Larry passed away on Monday, September 22, 2014, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge, after losing his battle with cancer, at the age of 74 years. He was preceded in death by his infant son in 1969; his foster parents and three half-brothers. Survivors include his wife, Rose Donaldson of Eagle Grove; two daughters, Michelle Evans and husband Dave and their sons, Hunter and Colby of West Des Moines and Kristina Donaldson and her children, Keiley and Nathan of Eagle Grove; sister, Jackie Collins of Arizona; sister-in-law, Fran Spadin and husband Dick of Waterloo and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Memorials may be directed to discretion of the family.
