FOREST CITY, IA -- Lauren E. Peterson, 69, of Forest City, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, with a Celebration of Life service starting at 6 p.m. at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 North Clark St., Forest City, Iowa, with the Pastor Greg Anderson of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Lauren Peterson Memorial Fund.

Lauren was born Aug. 23, 1945, in Belmond, Iowa, the son of Roland E. and Clara Mae (Peterson) Peterson. He grew up in Belmond, attended school there, graduating in 1964. Lauren served his country in the U.S. Army in the 101st Airborne, and was honorably discharged after his time served. He was married to Janice Cobb on March 2, 1971, and to this union three children, Craig, Kelly and Jon, were born. They later were divorced. Lauren worked as a mechanic for a road construction crew for many years. He enjoyed working with cars, watching T.V. and spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Lauren is survived by his children, Craig Peterson and wife Stacey of Forest City, Kelly Lawson of Lake Park, Iowa and Jon Peterson and wife Tanya of Forest City; grandchildren, Kristina, Katelynn, Tawnee, Shania, John, Jared, Christian, Cierra, Amanda and Faith; two great-grandchildren, Kori and Gaige; siblings, Karna Janssen, Shirley (Gene) Stenerson, Sandra Peterson, Merlin Peterson, Melvin Peterson, Delwin (Jill) Peterson, Dennis Peterson, Duane Peterson, Laura Peterson, Leon Peterson and sister-in-law, Lynn Peterson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Rolland Peterson. Arrangements are with the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark St., Forest City, IA
