Onen Steines, 92, of Hospers, died Monday, February 23, at Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City. Services were Friday, February 27, at Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City, with Rollin Mader and Bryan Hansen officiating. Burial was at Hospers Cemetery, under the direction of Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. Onen Steines was born June 7, 1905, in Norway. At the age of 17, He came to the United States, settling in central Iowa. He married Gertrude Lyzen on January 15, 1936, in Orange City. They farmed at Renwick, Woden, and Alton. They retired in to Hospers in 1970. He joined his wife at the Heritage House in November of 1996. Survivors include his wife, Gertrude; and two brothers-in-law, Daniel and Ethel Lyzen of Hale, Missouri, and Gerrit and Alma Lyzen of Hull. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and sisters.
