Pat Whipple, the daughter of Robert and Velsie (Larsen) Clarken, was born March 8, 1941, east of Spirit Lake on Hwy 9 in Dickinson County. She attended Hampton elementary schools and Greenville/Rossi schools until she was a sophomore, graduating from Eagle Grove High School in 1959. On January 19, 1963, Pat was united in marriage to LaVere Whipple at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They lived in Eagle Grove for two years before moving to a farm south of town until 1967, when they moved south of Duncombe on a farm for one year. Pat and Whip moved back to Eagle Grove until 1996 when they retired and moved to Okoboji for 10 years. They have lived at a Twin Lakes for the last 10 years. Pat worked for Lewrights in Eagle Grove for four years and Meredith Corp. in Clarion for 10 years. Pat loved spending time with her grandchildren, camping and fishing. She also enjoyed photography, watching hummingbirds and martins, wood burning/woodcarving and painting.

Pat passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2014, at Lake Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake, at the age of 73 years. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, LaVere of Twin Lakes; daughter, Lori Nelson and husband Kevin of Bayard; son, Lonnie Whipple and wife Chris of Eagle Grove; grandchildren, Crystal (Nick) Kern, Tara (Brent Lansman) Jacobson, Amanda (Matt Foust) Bisson, Zachary (Jenna) Whipple, Jordan (Sarah Freeman) Whipple, Vincent Whipple and Kay-ley Bisson; 9 great grandchildren (one on the way); one brother-in-law; four sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Heather Dorr officiating. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
