Services for Calvin L Smith of Britt, who died Aug. 27 at his home, were held Thursday, Aug. 30 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Britt with Rev. J. Larry Vallery officiating. Music was provided by organist Mrs. Larry Sweers and soloist Gene Guenther. Ushers were Robert Hiscocks, Jr. and Chuck Smith. Casket bearers were John Hill, Harold Hill, John Buzicky, Gordon Carlson, Wayne Ditsworth, Steve Hasty. Interment was Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.
Calvin was born June 26, 1924 near Kanawha. He attended school in the Corwith community and graduated with the Class of 1942. He was united in marriage with Evelyn Smith of Crystal Lake on Aug. 26, 1944 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple farmed the family farm until 1973 when they moved into Britt. Calvin was employed by Marting Manufacturing, Inc. of Britt at the time of his death. He enjoyed his family and was interested in farming, horses and music. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Britt, the Masonic Lodge and the Odd Fellows.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn: a son Arnold and his wife Ilene of Rogers, Ark.; two grandsons, Troy and Justin: one granddaughter, Jolene: one sister, Fern and her husband John Paulson of Wesley. He was preceded in death by his parents.
