Jean Wilson, 81, of Clarion passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2014 under hospice care at the Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion. Funeral services for Jean Wilson will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 10:30 AM at First United Methodist Church, 201 3rd Avenue North East in Clarion with Pastor Don Morrison officiating. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion. Visitation for Jean Wilson will be held on Friday, August 15, 2014 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Jean, the daughter of Guy and Bessie (Barnes) State was born November 21, 1932 on the family farm in Galt, Iowa. She attended Country School Lincoln #6 until May of 1946. She completed her education and graduated from Clarion High School in May of 1950. On January 9, 1954 she was united in marriage in Mason City, Iowa to Wayne Wilson of Webster City. Jean was a very busy wife and mother. She worked in Wayne’s bar business, and also owned and managed restaurants, the most popular being Jean’s Café, also known as the Teenie Weenie, which was known for serving maid rites and root beer. She later worked at Kids Korner Day Care.

Jean’s children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She also enjoyed watching her Kids Korner children grow up and graduate. She loved sitting outside her condo with her neighbors and friends, enjoying conversation and nice weather. Jean was also a member of First United Methodist Church.

Jean is survived by her two children, daughter Mel Wilson of Newton, Iowa, and son John Wilson and wife Re of Eugene, Oregon; three grandchildren, Troy Schultz and wife Dawn of Clarion, Iowa, Brad Schultz and wife Lisa of Bloomfield, Iowa, and Angela Wilson of Portland, Oregon; five great-grandchildren, Paeten and Brandon Schultz of Clarion, Iowa, and Morgan, Madison, and Mallory Schultz of Bloomfield, Iowa; sister Darlene Borel and husband Don of Clarion, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne in 2002, her brother Myron, and sisters Marilyn and Virginia.
