Charles Frederick Hamilton

Charles F. Hamilton, 95, of Loveland, CO entered his heavenly home on July 4th, 2014. He was born May 4, 1919 in Clarion, Iowa, the son of Ward B. and Cecile Umbreit Hamilton. He graduated from Emmetsburg High School and the University of Iowa where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He was employed by La Plant-Choate in Cedar Rapids, IA in 1941 and General Mills in Minneapolis in 1943. In 1945 he was hired by the Engineering Department of the Northern Pacific Railway to work on a survey crew in North Dakota. It was during this period that he met and married Laverne A. Fuchs on September 1, 1946 in New Salem, ND. They moved to Oelwein, IA in 1955 from St. Paul, MN where he was employed by the Chicago Great Western Railway. In 1969 he went to work for the Soo Line Railroad in Stevens Point, WI and was transferred to Fond du Lac, WI in 1973. He retired in 1979.

In 1981 he and his wife moved to Estes Park, CO. As a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, he served as an elder and trustee. He also served as a charter member and past president of Estes Valley Memorial Gardens. He enjoyed alpine skiing and golf and was a charter member of the Lake Estes Men’s Golf Club. He did chair caning as a hobby. Charles and his wife moved to Good Samaritan Village in Loveland, CO in 2013.

Charles is survived by his wife, Laverne of Loveland, son Craig A. Hamilton and wife Ranae of Broomfield, CO, daughters Patricia J. Ruth and husband William of Windsor, CO, Jeanne L. Kirkpatrick and husband James of Stillwater, MN, ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday July 26, 2014 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Estes Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society in care of Kibbey Fishburn Funeral Home, Loveland, CO.
