John Everett Patterson, 78, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Monday, May 26, 2014, at Tidewell Hospice in Port Charlotte. He was born Aug. 30, 1935, in Clarion, Iowa , the son of James and Nelle Patterson. John is survived by one sister, Virginia (Al) Amend; five children, Kathy (Ben) Campione, Michael Patterson, John (Tracy) Patterson, Barbara (David) Cox, and Kevin (Nicole) Patterson; two stepsons, Jay and Casey Wescott; 10 grandchildren, Amy, Ben, Courtney, Katie, Hannah, Elizabeth, Ashley, Abby, Trinity, and Anden; and one great-grandchild, Matthew. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at the Sarasota National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to Tidewell Hospice in memory of John.
