Lucille Harriette Buterbaugh, 88, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on May 21, 2014. Lucille, Lucy or Ceil, was the family matriarch and was loved by so many people. Lucy was born in a chicken coop outside Ringsted Iowa on June 11, 1925. She married the love of her life, George Lee Buterbaugh, in 1957 and moved to the family farm in Alexander Iowa. After having 6 children, she and George moved the family to Scottsdale in 1972 for their twin daughters' health. Lucy had various jobs throughout her life, but the ones she loved the most were being an amazing mother, aunt and grandmother. She was an inspiration to everyone who met her and treated everyone as if they were her immediate family. She was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Daniel's Parish since 1973. She is survived by her 6 children, David (Trish) Buterbaugh, Steven Buterbaugh, Judith Buterbaugh, Lori Jordan, Lisa Carter and Timothy (Jeaneanne) Buterbaugh, 7 grandchildren, Jamie, Jessica, Jordan, Arren, Brandon, Nicholas and Gillian Buterbaugh, niece Julie (Mike) Hoke, nephew Kerry Rummens, and great niece and nephew, Shawn and Korie Hoke as well as her wonderful caregiver, Diane Imbody.

Services will be held on Tuesday, May 27 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Daniel the Prophet Catholic Church, 1030 N. Hayden Rd. with burial to follow at St. Francis Cemetery. A visitation with rosary will be held on Monday, May 26 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Rd. in Scottsdale. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Hospice of the Valley, The Alzheimer's Association or the Foundation for Blind Children.
