August 22, 1851 --- June 1, 1934

Following a period of several months of failing health Mrs. John Hanson entered into eternal rest at her home in this city Friday evening, June 1, about 10:30 o'clock. Maren Sorensen was born in Hornsyld, Denmark, Aug. 22, 1851. She would have been 83 years of age her next birthday. As a child she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church of Denmark.

In 1871, when about 20 years of age she was united in marriage to Hans Jensen. To them 11 children were born. Four of them died in infancy. One son, Sofus, died last October in Ames. On Dec. 3, 1897, her husband died leaving her with a family of seven children, some of whom were grown.

About four years after the death of her husband she came to America with her eldest son and youngest daughter. This was in the spring of 1902. On July 15, 1905, she was married to John Hanson. They made their home on a farm in Wright county. After eight years they moved to Boyd, Minn., where they lived for 12 years. In October, 1925, they came to Webster City and established their home on Ohio street where they lived until the time of her death.

Mrs. Hanson was a faithful wife and a devoted mother. She had a deep and abiding faith in God, which found expression in her daily life. She was a quiet, home loving person, a friend to all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, and six children, Ludwig Jensen, of Pipestone, Minn.; John Jensen, of Rutland; Theodore Jensen, of Humboldt; Peter Jensen of Copenhagen, Denmark; Mrs. Carl Stuhr, of Racine, Wis., and Mrs. Pete S. Hanson, of Webster City. There are three stepchildren, Mrs. Albert Claude and Mrs. Henry Hilpipre, of Woolstock, and Pete S. Hanson, of Webster City. There are also 29 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
