Elva Ruby Anderson, 84, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, IA. A celebration of Elva's life will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 7, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ankeny with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Elva Ruby Laucamp was born on October 12, 1929 in Cedar County, IA to John Josiah and Gladys Blanche (Christian) Laucamp. She grew up in Cedar County and graduated from Springdale High School. Following graduation Elva ventured to West Branch, IA where she took a position as a telephone operator. Shortly after she met a young man named Calvin Anderson who had taken a job with the same company.

On August 28, 1949 Elva was united in marriage to Calvin William Anderson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. The couple made their home in Woolstock, IA for over 50 years and were blessed with six children; Calvin Jr., Bruce, Mark, Mervin, Colleen, and Becky. In 2004 Elva and Calvin moved to Bondurant, IA to be closer to family. Elva was a faithful member of both St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Woolstock and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ankeny. She was also very active in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML), American Legion Auxiliary, and the Eastern Polk Quilters Guild. Other things Elva enjoyed were reading, needlework, quilting, and listening to Iowa State and Iowa basketball games. Most of all Elva loved spending time with Calvin, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who all held a special place in her heart.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Calvin Anderson Sr.; children, Calvin (Joyce) Anderson Jr. of St. Paul, MN; Bruce (Patti) Anderson of Kennebunk, ME, Mark (Cindy) Anderson of Urbandale, IA, Mervin (Deb) Anderson of Des Moines, IA, Colleen Anderson of Bondurant, IA, and Becky (Bill) Sponsler of Indianola, IA; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Martha (Gene) Edler and Dorothy Feldman. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Wilbur, Harvey, and Robert. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church LWML in Ankeny.
