Franklin Leroy Stracke was born on a farm in Pocahontas county near Havelock, Ia., on April 6, 1889. He was the son of Genette Belle and Alexander Stracke.

As a boy, he went to school and worked for his father who was a butcher by trade. In the year 1904, his parents moved to Eagle Grove where he went to work for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad as locomotive fireman. In March, 1918, he was employed by what is now the Iowa Public Service, and has been active in this position until his passing.

He was united in marriage to Jennie M. Swenson on September 27, 1911. To this union six children were born: Carroll Stracke of Bloomington, Calif.; Evelyn A. Fuller of Kansas City, Mo.; Violet Stithem of Dunning, Nebr.; Virgene Cullinan of Clarion, Ia., and Jerry, who lives at home, and little Robert Franklin who passed away in 1916 at the age of two years. His father and mother also preceded him in death.

He was converted and baptized in 1918. He later became a charter member of the Church of the Open Bible in Eagle Grove, and was a member of its board of Elders. He loved his church and served with joy wherever needed.

In addition to his family, he leaves to mourn his passing, one brother, Will Stracke, of Tacoma, Wash., and three sisters, Mrs. Lydia Gray, Mrs. Alice Wood, and Mrs. Clara Pressler, all of this city. He also leaves nine grandchildren, Marlene and Margaret Fuller, Jack, Mickey, and Tommy Cullinan; Karon, Jimmy, and Terry Jo Stracke; Nancy Jo Stithem, and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the Church of The Open Bible, in charge of the pastor, Rev. Lloyd Meyer. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.
