Jay R. Hamilton, 55, of Nevada and formerly of Britt passed away Friday, March 28, 2014 at his home in Nevada. Family will greet friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Ewing Funeral Home, 118 East Second Street in Kanawha, followed by a memorial service beginning at 2:00 PM with Pastor Mark Heath officiating.

Jay, the son of Don and Mona Hamilton, was born in Britt, Iowa. He graduated from Britt High School and Iowa State University, with degrees in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. He married Barb Jensen, and they lived and worked in Texas and California before returning to Iowa and settling in the Nevada area. They later divorced, and Jay retired several years ago due to health reasons. He was active in the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada, and enjoyed touring the neighborhood on his scooter. He was very ecology minded and loved to “tinker.”

Jay is survived by his mother, Mona (Linn) Hamilton-Lundstrom of Kanawha; brother Mark Hamilton of Springville, California; sister Sue (Mike) Beukema of Kanawha; brother Paul (Sandy) Hamilton of Gretna, Nebraska; sister Jean (Aaron) Buchholz of Omaha, Nebraska. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Bryan and Brent (Elizabeth) Beukema and their son Zachary all of Kanawha; Joel and Elizabeth Buchholz of Omaha; and Kristina Hamilton of San Francisco, California. Jay was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, and his father, Don, in 1996.
