WELL KNOWN ENGINEER DIES
Mervin F. Dixon of Eagle Grove Dies Oct. 19th at Rochester, Minn.Engineer Mervin F. He came to Hawarden on Monday of the previous week on his regular run but did not feel able to come out on Wednesday. Mr. Dixon was No. 2 on the engineer's seniority list of the Northern Iowa division of the North Western. He was 66 years of age and had been employed by the North Western Railway company for 45 years. He entered the employ of the company as a fireman in 1892 and was promoted to engineer in 1898. He entered the employ of the company at the same time that L. D. Dickinson of Hawarden did and through all these years they had been close friends. Mr. Dickinson went to Eagle Grove last Thursday to attend the funeral which was held last Friday. He is survived by his wife and one son, Harold, of Chicago. A daughter preceded him in death.
