DAKOTA CITY, IA - Earlene B. Davis, 81, of Dakota City, passed away October 3, 2013 at the Long Term Care Unit of the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in the chapel of the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt with the Rev. Christy Ehrle and Rev. Jan Burnett officiating. Interment will be in Indian Mound Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Davis is survived by her children, Bruce Johnson of Des Moines, Cindy Cartee of Dakota City, LuAnn Johnson of Dakota City, and Kevin Johnson of Texas; stepchildren, Judy Schoon of Cherokee, Carol McKenna of Livermore, and Frank Davis of Dakota City; 24 grandchildren; and 31 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Doyle Davis; and brothers, Harry and Merlin Pollock.

Earlene Bess Pollock, the daughter of Earl and Martha (Olson) Pollock, was born May 31, 1932 at Humboldt, Iowa. She was raised and educated at Hardy and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1951. She married Don Johnson and the couple made their home in Waterloo. The marriage was later dissolved and Earlene returned to Humboldt where she went to work for IPS and owned and operated a variety store in Dakota City with her father. She was united in marriage to Doyle Davis on January 27, 1974 and the family made their home in Dakota City where Earlene served two terms as mayor.
