June 9, 1888 --- November 18, 1978

Seth D. Welch, 90, longtime Webster City resident, died Saturday [11/18/78] morning at the Hamilton County hospital. He had been in ill health the past six months. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Tuesday at the Foster Funeral home with Tom Waters officiating and with burial in the Graceland cemetery.

Seth D. Welch, son of Hiram D. and Rachel Garth Welch, was born June 9, 1888 in Wright county where he was reared and educated. He was married Aug. 23, 1910 at Woolstock to Maude B. Richardson, and the couple farmed in the Webster City area. They retired and moved into Webster City, making their home at 1233 Water St. He is survived by his wife; one granddaughter, Mrs. Robert (Janet) Roe of Webster City; four great grandchildren, Marty Roe, Alta, Iowa; Andy Roe, Scott and Kelly Roe, all of Webster City; one sister, Mrs. Gertrude Peterson of Garner, Iowa. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mr. Joe (Arkelle) Severson in 1968; his parents, four brothers and four sisters. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
