TITONKA, IA -- Jane Knudsen, 77, of Titonka died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society in Algona. She was born to the late Grace and Clarence Hubbard, Sept. 11, 1936, in Leon, Iowa. Jane graduated from Leon High School in 1954 and attended Parsons College in Fairfield. There she met and married the late Jack Knudsen and they lived in Renwick, later relocating to Nashua where they lived and raised a family. After she and Jack divorced in 1978 she later lived in Mason City, Charles City, and for some years in Grants, N.M., to be near her daughter Betsy and grandson Ryan.

Jane worked in the Charles City schools at Jefferson Elementary, and also enjoyed a long career at Skyline Harvestore in Nashua where she was an Operations Manager. She also worked for Iowa Small Business Employers (ISBE) in Mason City and most recently at Lincoln Elementary School in Charles City as an aide until her retirement in 2010. Jane was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Nashua and in later years St. John’s Lutheran Church in Charles City. Jane also was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood in Nashua and Grants, N.M. She most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, her grandchildren, and her beloved dog, Duke.

Jane is survived by two children: Betsy Knudsen (Darwin Engelbarts) of Titonka and Jennifer Knudsen (Geraldo Perez) of New York City. She also is survived by three grandchildren: Ryan Knudsen, Andres Perez and Sophia Perez. Also left to cherish her memory are three nieces: Rebecca Key, Joyce Kurth and Sue Pitman. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Grace and Clarence Hubbard, and her sister Myrna Ruth Pitman. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. Services will be held at a later date. Oakcrest Funeral Services of Titonka is in charge of arrangements.
