Visitation for long-time Des Moines resident, Nadine Iris Myers, 94, who passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at her Carroll, Iowa nursing-facility home, will be on Monday, February 24, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Iles-Westover Chapel in Des Moines, located at 6337 Hickman Road. Her funeral is set for Tuesday, February 25th at 10:30 AM, at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Des Moines, with interment following at Des Moines Masonic Cemetery, 1550 – 48th Street.

Born in Liberty Township, Wright County, Iowa on November 29. 1919, Nadine was the fourth daughter of farmers Anton and Ada (Bjornson) Rasmussen. After graduation from Goldfield High School, Nadine moved to Des Moines, where she completed secretarial training at Capital City Commercial College and then worked for Pioneer Seed Corn.

During World War II, Nadine married Garold (Jerry) Myers; the couple had two children, Linda and Bill. Beginning in her stay-at-home-mother years, she volunteered for Camp Fire and Boy Scouts organizations and gave her time and artistic talents to church groups. As an avid sewer and expert tailor, she worked for a custom-drapery business, Sears, and Bond's of Beaverdale prior to retirement. Nadine developed strong bonds with family, friends, and co-workers and loved helping others.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters Esther Moore, Vera McBride, and Doris Wertsch; and cousins. Surviving relatives include daughter, Linda (Frank) Clayton of Lake Tapps, Washington; son William Myers of Carroll, Iowa; grandchildren Jon Clayton of Farmington, Minnesota, Lisa (Clayton) Theis of Issaquah, Washington, Steven Clayton of Los Alamos, New Mexico, Sarah Myers and Emily (Myers) Harris of Atlantic, Iowa; great-grandchildren Owen and Morgan Theis, Molly and Lucy Harris, Jonathan Clayton, and Willow Orsi; two nieces: Susan (Moore) Hurst and Joy (McBride) Gage, and three nephews: Larry Myers, Douglas Wertsch, and David Wertsch. Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel United Methodist Church. ARRANGEMENTS BY ILES FUNERAL HOMES ~ WESTOVER CHAPEL.
