An open gathering in memory of Patty will be held March 22, 2014 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm at The Homestead Restaurant in Kankakee. Private interment will be held at Rosehill Cemetery in Eagle Grove, IA. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 13 (time to be determined) at the School of Expressive Arts and Learning in Lombard, IL.

Patricia Ann "Patty" Hotz, 49, of Bartlett, formerly of Herscher, passed away March 9, 2014, at her home. An open gathering in memory of Patty will be held 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at the Homestead Restaurant in Kankakee. Private interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Eagle Grove, Iowa. A celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 13, with a Tribute at 3 p.m., at the School of Expressive Arts and Learning in Lombard. Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home, west Kankakee, is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Hotz was the expressive therapy director at Glen Oaks Hospital and Therapeutic Day School. She was born Sept. 8, 1964, in Kankakee, the daughter of Robert and Betty Jean Ryan Hotz. She was a graduate of Herscher High School and a graduate of the College of St. Francis in Joliet. She was co-founder of the School of Expressive Arts and Learning (SEAL).

Surviving are one son, Evan Larson-Hotz, of Wauconda; two sisters, Marie Thiesen, of Kankakee, and Robin Hartley, of Kanawha, Iowa; one brother, Douglas Hotz, of Eagle Grove; and dear friend, Jaymie. She was preceded in death by her parents.
