WAPELLO, Iowa — Mark Alan Schnell, 47, of Wapello and formerly of Muscatine, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Cremation is chosen and there will be a private celebration of life gathering. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made. The son of Roger and Karen Bjornson Schnell, he was born on Sept. 26, 1966, in Clarion, Iowa. Mark married Christine Marie Laughlin on Feb. 11, 1993 in Wapello. He graduated from L & M High School, served in the US Army for 4 years and attended Muscatine Community College. Mark was a forklift operator for All Steel in Muscatine. He enjoyed computer activities, board games, bingo, and gambling. His family includes his ex-wife, Christine; a son, Mark Schnell, II and his fiancée Nicole Burke of Muscatine; his father, Roger Schnell of Wapello; his mother, Karen Schnell of Columbus Junction; two brothers, Roger and Cheryl Schnell of Columbus Junction, and Rich and Jenn Schnell of Columbus Junction; and a sister, Carol and Telly Zuniga of West Branch.
