Rex H. Benson, 72, of Plano, Texas, passed away Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at his residence in Plano. He was born Jan. 9, 1942, in Belmond, Iowa. Rex was preceded in death by his wife, Lavada Benson, and two brothers, Dale and Max Benson. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Benson, of Plano; brothers, Reggie Benson and wife, Diane, of Grand Meadow and Duane Benson and wife, Melissa, of Lanesboro; sisters, Dixie Mathews, of Rhinelander, Wis., and ValJean Thorsen and husband, Tom, of Grand Meadow; and a sister-in-law, Beverly Benson, of Rushford. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, at Ted Dickey Funeral Home, 2128 18th Street, Plano, TX 75074. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home before services. Burial will be in Plano Mutual Cemetery.

Rex H. Benson, 72, of Plano, TX, passed away February 27, 2014, at his residence in Plano. He was born January 9, 1942, in Belmond, IA. Rex was preceded in death by his wife, Lavada Benson, and two brothers, Dale and Max Benson. Rex had a passion for John Deere memorabilia. His current project was the restoration of a John Deere 400 Lawn and Garden Tractor. Rex was a kind and caring man, had a heart the size of Texas and would help anyone. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Benson of Plano, brothers Reggie Benson and wife Diane of Grand Meadow, MN, and Duane Benson and wife Melissa of Lanesboro, MN, sisters Dixie Mathews of Rhinelander, WI, and ValJean Thorsen and husband Tom of Grand Meadow, MN, and a sister-in-law Beverly Benson of Rushford, MN. Services are scheduled for 11am, Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Ted Dickey Funeral Home, 2128 18th Street, Plano, TX 75074. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until 11:00am at the funeral home prior to services. Burial will be in Plano Mutual Cemetery, Plano, TX The family wished to express their heartfelt gratitude to their kind neighbors and the wonderful community support.
