On February 18th, 2014, Anna Mae Reagan was called home to be with her Heavenly Father. She was 85 years old. In June of 2000, she moved in with her daughter, Sheila, Ed, and Elias, as she needed care because of her rheumatoid arthritis. 14 years later, she passed, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, because of the effects of her condition.
She was born on May 30, 1928 in Kanawha, Iowa to Anna (Shaw) and J. Oliver Fosen. Her family moved to Waterloo, Iowa in 1942. She graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1946 where she worked as an office secretary before and after graduation. Anna Mae was involved in the USO during WWII. She went on to work in the office for Takin Brothers Transfer and Storage until August of 1951. In September 1951 she elevated herself to fulltime wife and mother. Anna Mae married her longtime sweetheart Ray R. Reagan on December 17, 1950 in Waterloo. Ray passed away in November of 1999. They had four children, Glenda (Rubin) Jarman, Rachel Roth, Ray, Jr. (Pat) Reagan, and Sheila (Ed) Eilers. She had nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Earlier on, in school marching band, Anna Mae twirled baton and played clarinet. She also played piano and organ. Anna Mae loved to knit and crochet. She loved to give away her finished craft to friends and family. Ray, Anna Mae and family loved the outdoors and could be found camping nearly every weekend in any type of weather. She was famous for writing wonderful letters that were cherished by the recipients. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and often joked that she was 'just a stubborn Norwegian'. Anna Mae was NBA basketball star Larry Bird's biggest fan.
Anna Mae is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray, her sister, Carey Liljegren, her brother, Lawrence Fosen, and her son-in-law, Dan Roth. A graveside memorial service is planned for late May in Steamboat Rock, Iowa. Arrangements are with Getz Funeral Home 1410 E. Bowman Ave, Las Cruces New Mexico.
