Melvin Wayne Caquelin was born in Wright County, IA to Raymond and Ethel Caquelin. He attended school in Eagle Grove, IA, and then served in the army from 1943 - 1946. After his discharge from the army he graduated from Iowa State University in Ames, IA in Electrical Engineering. He then worked at Collins Radio Company (which later became Rockwell) in Cedar Rapids, IA. There he met and married his wife Norma. The family moved to California, Texas, Massachusetts, and back to California through his work, which included time with Hoffman and Birtcher electronics companies. He was active in church work, golf, bridge, and family activities. Mel is survived by Norma, his wife of 64 years, daughter Gwen Caquelin, son Ron Caquelin (Linda), daughter Sandra Blickenstaff (Dan), granddaughter Dawna Bridges, grandson David Blickenstaff (Cherie), two great-grandsons, a brother Ken Caquelin (Norma), and a sister Rachael Kvapil. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. His celebration of life service is at Arcadia Presbyterian Church, Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM.
