February 12, 1863 --- December 14, 1922

Miss Ione Roach, for twenty years a resident of Hawarden, passed away last Thursday, December 14th, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. Glendy at Clarion, Iowa, following a lingering illness from tuberculosis of the spine. Funeral services were held at their home Saturday and the remains were then taken by her sister, Mrs. S. T. May of Dickinson, North Dakota, who was with her during the last eight days of her life, to Chelsea, Iowa, for interment beside her parents.

The deceased was about 60 years of age. She came to Hawarden from Clarion in 1901 and for a time kept house for her father here. Later she made her home with her sister, Mrs. S. T. May and family, until their removal to Madison, South Dakota, in 1907. At that time she took rooms at the residence of Mrs. William Cook and continued to make her home here until about eighteen months ago when she went to Clarion where she has since made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Glendy where she had every possible care. She was a member of the M. E. Church in this city and her friends here will learn her death with sincere sorrow.
