Marcene Katie "Marcy" (Pogge) Mueller, 84, of Kirksville, Missouri, and formerly of Shell Rock, Iowa, died on Tuesday morning, January 28, 2014, at Twin Pines Nursing Home in Kirksville, Missouri.

Marcene was born on June 16, 1929, in Wright County, Iowa, the daughter of John and Lena (Camp) Pogge. Marcene was confirmed on June 18, 1944 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She graduated from the Renwick High School in 1947 and the Waterloo School of Beauty Culture in 1949. On September 18, 1949, Marcene was united in marriage to Ewald E. Mueller in Renwick, Iowa. Marcene owned her own beauty shop on the family farm and started a beauty shop in Shell Rock in 1968, retiring on January 1, 1990. Marcene was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock, since 1962, where she was very active with several committees. Marcene also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, flower arranging, and baking (was noted for her Lemon Pies and Mississippi Mud Bars). Marcene and Ewald enjoyed spending the winter season in Texas, and made their permanent home in Kirksville in July of 2012. Ewald died on June 28, 2013.

Marcene is survived by her 2 daughters, Diane Brown of Kirksville, Missouri, Dee Ann Mueller of Spokane, Washington; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 1 brother, John Pogge of Fort Dodge, Iowa; and 1 sister, Linda Metzger of Marquette, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ewald on June 28, 2013; and 3 brothers, Chris, Henry, and Kenneth Pogge.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock, with Pastor Kim Smith officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Waverly. Public visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1st from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North East Missouri, 201 S. Baltimore, Kirksville, Missouri, 63501 or Bremwood Lutheran Children's Home, in Waverly, Iowa. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock is assisting the family.
