Duane S. Lowenberg, 74, died Jan. 2, 2014 in Medford, OR. He was born December 21, 1939 to Arthur and Mary Lowenberg. He grew up on the family farm near Goodell with his siblings Merlin, Lois, Joan, Elizabeth, Tom and Therese. He graduated from Belmond High School in 1957 and from Loras College in 1961. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1961-63. Duane then began a 33-year career at 3M Corporation in Birmingham, AL, St. Paul, MN, San Diego, CA and White City, OR. In White City he worked as the human resources manager and was president of the Rogue Valley Chapter of the PNPMA and president of the 3M Club. After retiring in 1997 he became vice president at Hilo, Inc.

His hobbies included woodworking and stained glass. He built many custom pieces for family and friends, including bedframes, cabinets, tables and birdhouses. He also enjoyed gardening, especially growing fruits and vegetables. He had a quick wit and dry sense of humor.

Duane is survived by his wife Carol; sons Chris (Marggi) Lowenberg, Jason (Mischel) Lowenberg and Brendan (Cristina) McDermott; daughter Molly Neron; eight grandchildren; and siblings Joan Janssen of Goodell, Tom of St. Paul, and Therese Hemigar of Ottumwa.
