Jack E. Lorenzen, age 50, of Ida Grove, Iowa, died Friday, June 4, 2010, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church in Ida Grove, Iowa, under the direction of Christensen-Huffman Funeral Homes. The Reverend Russ Burnett will officiate, with burial in the Ida Grove Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be held at the Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Ida Grove on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m.

Born June 5, 1959, in Ida Grove, Iowa, Jack E. Lorenzen was the son of Wayne and Nola (Cox) Lorenzen. He grew up and received his education in Ida Grove, graduating from Ida Grove High School in 1977. He then studied tractor mechanics at Western Iowa Technical College in Sioux City. On November 23, 1985, Jack was united in marriage to Kelley Rodgers at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Three children, Zachary, Heather, and Beth, were born to this union.

Jack and Kelley lived in Eagle Grove for a time, later moving to Missouri for several years. Jack returned to Ida Grove in the early 90's. His work as site supervisor for Bushman Company involved travel throughout the United States. A member of the First United Methodist Church, Jack enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, gardening, and various building projects. He especially loved his dog, Wilie.

Survivors include his three children, Zach Lorenzen, Heather Lorenzen, and Beth Lorenzen and her fiancé Joe Allen, all of Ida Grove and their mother, Kelley Lorenzen of Ida Grove; and five grandchildren, Kaden, Kendra, and Kailee Schofield, and Dawson and Paige Allen. He is also survived by a brother, Dave Lorenzen of Breda; three nieces, Jennifer (Jason) Vonnahme of Breda, Amber Lorenzen of Glidden, and Courtney Lorenzen of Ida Grove; as well as other extended family members and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Michael Lorenzen.
