Doris Alice Aldinger, 80, of Riverside, Iowa, formerly of Eagle Grove, Iowa, passed away on January 18, 2014, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Per her wishes, her body has been donated to research at the University of Iowa. A memorial will be at a later date.

Doris Heck was born June 1, 1933 in Riverside to Alvah and Anna (Florang) Heck. She graduated from Riverside High School in 1951. Doris married Wayne Aldinger on August 6, 1960, in Iowa City. After Wayne was discharged from the Navy, they made their home in Eagle Grove, where they owned and operated a restaurant and bar. After Wayne’s death, Doris worked for Meredith Corporation in Clarion, Iowa, until she was diagnosed with adult Acute Leukemia in 1987. She would lend a helping hand when needed and received the Governor’s Volunteer Award in 1998.

She is survived by a brother, Dale (Helen) Heck of Iowa City; and a sister Norma McKelvey of Bettendorf; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister, Alma Metz; and niece Pam (Heck) Jones.
