Elmer Clair, 97, of South St. Paul, MN, formerly of Webster City, died Saturday, July 20, 2013 at St. Joseph Hospital in St. Paul, MN. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013 at the Church of Christ in Webster City, with Rev. Gina Spohnheimer officiating. Burial will be in the Cass Township Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.

Elmer John Clair, son of Charles and Anna Stansky Clair, was born April 17, 1916 on a farm near Jewell. He received his education in rural schools in Lyon Township. On January 5, 1941, he was united in marriage to Mildred Flygstad at Webster City. The couple farmed southwest of Webster City from 1941 to 1947, than they farmed south of Duncombe in the Brushy Creek area for 18 years. In 1965, they moved to a farm north of Webster City, where they lived for 35 years. He was also a self employed carpenter and was involved in many projects in the Webster City and Jewell areas. After retiring, they moved to Webster City in 1999. In 2011, they moved to South St. Paul, MN to be close to family.
Elmer is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mildred, daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Steve Jaeger, Nancy and Mike Leitch, all of South St. Paul, MN; family by choice, Becky and David Kepler of Webster City; ten grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters, June Egland of Rochester, MN; Frances Broom of Story City and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Mabel, Blanche, Elizabeth, Florence, Bertha, Lucille, Gladys, Gertrude, Benjamin, Charles Jr., Howard, Emma, and Clarice.

He was a member of the Church of Christ in Webster City; was a Pool champion at Fuller Hall; played in many horseshoe tournaments, was the Hamilton County Fair Horseshoe Champ for two years; enjoyed music and played the guitar, harmonica, drums and stomp fiddle; roller blading and ice skating also provided much enjoyment for him. But most of all he valued his family, friends and sharing life's thrills with them.
