W. R. Siemens Dies Monday at St. Cloud

William R. Siemens, 78, 302 East Humphrey Street, died early Monday morning at Veterans Hospital, St. Cloud, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday from First Baptist Church, Lake Crystal, Dr. M.R. Siemens officiating. Organist was Mrs. Kenneth Skobba. James Siemens was the vocal soloist. Casketbearers were Melvin Campbell, Donald Campbell, Niels Pedersen, Archie Kendall, Robert Luiken and Maurice Raymond. Interment was in Lake Crystal Cemetery. James Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Siemens was born Oct. 28, 1895, in Kanawha, Iowa. He served with the U.S. Army in World War I. On June 1, 1931, he married Ruth Butterfield in Swea City, Iowa. He was a resident of the Lake Crystal area for 43 years, and farmed until his retirement in 1960. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Lake Crystal. The family prefers memorials to Bethesda Hospital, Indonesia.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth; two daughters, Mrs. Wendell (Marjorie) Gary of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Wilbert H. (Helen) Ratledge Jr. of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren; three brothers, John Siemens, D.D. of Portland, Ore., George Siemens, D.D. of Whittier, Calif., and M. R. Siemens, D.D. of Fort Collins, Colo., and one sister, Mrs. W. M. (Jennie) Cook of Honolulu, Hawaii. He was preceded in death by one brother.
