Dorothy D. Darrow, 90, of Wheaton and most recently of Bloomington, Illinois, died at 4:04 p.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington. Her memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Wheaton. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Wheaton. The family will receive friends from 9-11 a.m. prior to the Mass.

She was born January 10, 1923 in Kanawha, Iowa, the daughter of James Robert and Verl Frances Gray Darrah. She married Robert E. Lee Darrow III on December 31, 1949 in Wheaton. He preceded her in death in 1999. Surviving are her children, Debbie (Alan Williams) Darrow, Vicki (Jim McQuade) Darrow and Rob Roy (Cindy) Darrow; grandchildren Thad (Courtney) Oettel, Heather (Jason) Bowles, Heidi (Jayson) Bisbee, Miriam McQuade and Amanda McQuade; great-grandchildren Nolan Bowles, Avery Bowles, Everett Bowles, Hadley Bowles, Ellie Bisbee and Jack Bisbee; a brother, Robert (Saundra) Darrah; a sister, Doris Ann LaBounty; and a sister-in-law, Myra (Rick) Davis.

Dorothy attended Iowa State University at Ames and moved to Chicago to work with her uncle in the exporting business. She was employed by the Chicago Golf Club for 53 years and served as its general manager up until her illness in October. She was a past president and current member of the Chicago Club Managers Association. Dorothy was also a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Wheaton and volunteered her time at St. Michael's School. She loved to dance and enjoy life.
