Gerald Eugene "Jerry" Anderson
Jerry Anderson, age 79, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 2:15 a.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2013, at the Mt. Vernon Place Care Center. He was born June 22, 1934 in Erin Township of Hancock County, Iowa, the son of the late Edward and Peternella “Nellie” (Van Dusseldorp) Anderson.

Jerry grew up and attended school in Iowa before entering the U.S. Navy. He served from 1956 until 1960. He then attended vocational school for electric. In 1998 he retired from GTE/Contel Satellite Company where he worked as an installer and moved to Mt. Vernon. On July 19, 1961, he married Anne Marie Huschka in Renwick, Iowa. She preceded him in death September 19, 2003. His brother Donald also preceded him in death. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter, Debra Bozek and his son, David Anderson both of Mt. Vernon; two brothers, Marvin Anderson and his wife, Norma, of Hardy, Iowa, Jim Anderson and his wife, Roxie, of LeMars, Iowa; one sister, Arlene Engh and her husband, Willis, of Kanawha, Iowa; two grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2013, at the Ozark Prairie “Brick” Church with burial at the Ozark Prairie Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Ozark Prairie Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
