Rio Linda, CA -- Douglas Westre, Died Nov. 15, 2013 at the age of 75. Doug was born and raised in Iowa. He joined the Navy at the age of 17 and was stationed aboard the carrier, USS Valley Forge. He came to CA in 1962 and worked at McClellan AFB in Sacramento, CA until his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Barb, two sons, Sjon (Dana) of Carson City, NV; Erik (Maryam) of Pleasanton, CA; Five grandchildren; Amy, Alex, Nima, Erin (Shane), Logan, one great grandchild Trent, and his sister Shari Reuvers of Corona, CA. He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Westre (Bagley), sister Sue Muir (Rippey). Donations can be made in Dougs name to HTSP or the American Cancer Society.

Douglas E. Westre, 75, of Rio Linda, CA died Nov. 15, 2013. Doug was born in Dows, Iowa and raised by his mother Thelma (deceased) in Bagley, Iowa. He joined the Navy after high school and was stationed aboard the Carrier USS Valley Forge touring the Mediterranean. He came to Sacramento, CA in 1962 and worked at McClellan AFB until his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; two sons, Sjon Westre (Dana) of Carson City, NV; Erik Westre (Maryam) of Pleasanton, CA ; sister Shari Reuvers of Corona, CA. Five grandchildren and one great- grandchild. In lieu of flowers donations in Doug's name can be made to the Head Trauma Support Project or the American Cancer Society. A memorial service will be held Sunday Nov. 24, 2013 at Rio Linda Methodist Church, 6th and M St. at 1:00pm.
