DONALD WARD DIES AT 47, RITES PENDING

CLEAR LAKE – Donald G. Ward, 47, Route 2, died suddenly early Saturday morning of a heart attack. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Murley A. Severtson officiating. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Ward-Van Slyke Funeral Home after 10 a.m. Monday.

He was born Nov. 26, 1923, at Wesley, the son of George and Edith (Schimmel) Ward. He attended the rural schools and was married to Dorothy Heidecker on June 2, 1945 at Renwick. They farmed at Whittemore and Corwith. They moved to their present farm two miles north of Clear Lake in 1957. They purchased the Cave Tavern in Clear Lake in June and operated it in connection with their farm.

He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Pamela Eichman, Clear Lake, Mrs. Michael (Patricia) Shahan, Charlson and Peggy Louise, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Ward, Clear Lake; one brother, Chan Ward; two sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Ruth) Nuehring, Belton, Mo., and Mrs. Sam (Dorothy) Haag, Clear Lake, and five grandchildren.
