Gordon A. Lund, 94, of rural Vincent, died October 23, 2013, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. A service honoring Gordon's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Badger Lutheran Church. Family interment services will be held at a later date at Newark Township Cemetery near Vincent. The visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family.
Gordon is survived by his wife Elizabeth; children, Trudy Langford, Winterset; Cheryl (Roger) Ott, Ames; Linda (Charles) Montgomery, Ottumwa; Anna (Steven) Moore, Okoboji; Arthur (Jaci) Lund, Otho; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild due in December; sister Maxine Harvey, Sheffield; brother-in-law Meryl Youngblood, Jefferson; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Thordis, infant son Gary and sister Aldora Youngblood.
Gordon Allen Lund, the son of Arthur G. and Anna (Nerhus) Lund, was born May 25, 1919, near Badger. He attended Badger and Newark Township schools. At the age of 21, Gordon began farming. On August 30, 1940, Gordon was united in marriage to Thordis Folden in Fort Dodge. Thordis passed away in 1954. On May 27, 1956, Gordon was united in marriage to Elizabeth Pergande in Luverne. Gordon was also a township and county committeeman with ASCS for many years.
Gordon was a member of Badger Lutheran Church, the Badger 39ers and was a charter member of the Badger Lions. He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards, and building things in his shop. Gordon especially treasured time spent with all of his family.
