Jack Ray Yepsen, 83, of Bondurant, IA died September 29, 2013. Services will be at 10 A.M. on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the Chapel at Camp Dodge in Johnston, IA. Interment will be held October 18, 2013 at 12:30 P.M. in the Veterans Cemetery at Van Meter, IA.
Jack was born January 11, 1930 in Kanawha, IA to Ralph and Verola (Hartwig) Yepsen. He married his wife of 55 years, Lea Kohlhof, on June 1, 1958. Jack worked in the Iowa National Guard for 42 years and achieved the rank of Chief Warrant Officer IV. Jack attended schools in Kanawha, Carroll, Coon Rapids, and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1947. Jack was always proud of his association with the I.A.N.G. and enjoyed the camaraderie. As a husband, father, and grandfather he enjoyed the trials and tribulations of a growing family.
He is survived by his wife, Lea, of Bondurant, IA; daughters, Jackie (Jeff) Peterson of Bondurant, IA, Janelle (Bob) Stallbaumer of Andover, KS; siblings, Arlon of Jefferson, IA, Nadine Lynch of Williamsburg, IA, JoAnn Corcoran of Greenfield, IA, Donald (Alice) of Jefferson, IA, and Donna (Bill) Duncan of Goodyear, AZ. There are twenty two nieces and nephews; four grandchildren, Barrett and Cameron Peterson of Bondurant, IA, and Jake and Bailey Stallbaumer of Andover, KS. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers in-law, and one sister in-law. Memorial contributions can be made in Jack's memory to the Gold Star Museum located in Camp Dodge, IA. A valid driver's license will be needed to obtain entrance to Camp Dodge, IA. All funeral arrangements are being handled by the Ankeny Funeral Home. Visitation will follow the funeral at the Dodge House on Camp Dodge.
