Sharon D. Sandry, the daughter of William Benjiman and Tena Florence (Gruis) Sandry, was born December 12, 1948, at the Belmond Hospital. She was the youngest of four children born to this union which included her three brothers, Donald, Calvin and Marvin. Sharon attended Klemme High School, graduating with the Class of 1967. She continued her education at the Hamilton Business College in Mason City. She had worked for a number of years in the poultry industry in Alexander, Iowa. In more recent years Sharon had been employed in the convenience stores in Belmond, spending three years at Casey's General Store, and then the last seven years prior to retiring last year she was employed at the Belmond Kum & Go Store location. Sharon was very much a people person and enjoyed her years in these two stores. She was always welcoming to the customers and enjoyed many conversations and a bit of mutual pokes and laughter between many of them.

Since she retired, she had mentioned on various occasions how she missed the interactions with her co-workers and the regulars and strangers who were patrons at the stores. She enjoyed the simple things of life such as an evening of solitude curled on the couch with one of her cats and a good book. In recent years she had a great love for her Angora cat "Sassy," which she often referred to as "Sassy Lu." Her reading pleasure was mostly around mystery and suspense novels, but she also enjoyed reading about daily happenings in the world and looked forward to seeing what the latest happenings were in the entertainment business.

Sharon also looked forward to decorating her home for the various holidays and had a bountiful collection of cat photos, stuffed kittens and other feline collectibles. Sharon was always up for a trip shopping and had been looking forward to spending her retirement years doing a bit of traveling and getting together with old friends and family.

Her memory will live on in the lives of her surviving brothers, Marvin Sandry, Britt, Iowa, Donald Sandry, Goodell, Iowa, and Calvin (Lorraine) Sandry, Davenport, Iowa, also numerous other extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Her four-legged companion "Sassy Lu" has also joined in her passing. Andrews Funeral Homes, Belmond, IA.
