Leona Pearl (Campbell) Charlson, age 86, of Fort Dodge, previously of Thor, IA passed away peacefully at Villa Care Center on September 28, 2013. She was born on November 10, 1926 near Temple, TX. Leona was united in marriage to Donald F. Charlson on March 26, 1948 in Seattle, WA. Throughout her life, Leona and Donald enjoyed dancing at several area halls. Leona was dedicated to her family and her church. She loved to crochet, making all the children and grandchildren their own afghan. In the evenings, she would be found at home crocheting or working on her favorite word search puzzles. Don and Leona lived and worked in Thor for 43 years. When they decided to retire, they moved to Fort Dodge.

Leona is survived by her husband Donald; daughters Donna (Mike) Lankford of Fort Dodge, Faye (Paul) Ollinger of Ankeny, IA, Lynn (Pat McFate) Peterson of Humboldt, IA and Cindy (Jim) Pauk of Clarion, IA; daughter-in-law Sharon Hayden of El Reno, OK; 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother James; sister Nema; her son Willard and a grandson and great-grandson.

The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday October 2, 2013 at the Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor, IA with Pastor Darryl Landsverk officiating. The visitation will be held from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
