HARDY, IA - James S. White, 81, of Hardy, passed away September 20, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Renwick United Methodist Church. Interment will be in The Trinity Lutheran Cemetery near Hardy with full military rites. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.

Mr. White is survived by his wife, Donna White of Hardy; his children, Cathy (Doug) Schipull of Humboldt, and Scott White of Jessup, Georgia; grandchildren, Lindsay (Adam) Charon and Christen Schipull; and his great grandson, Braxton Alexander Charon. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his infant son, Jeffry Scott White.

James Scott White, the son of Ralph Albert and Beverly (McCurry) White, was born January 2, 1932 at Renwick, Iowa. He was raised with the help of his grandmother and aunt following the death of his mother and attended school at Renwick. Following his graduation from Renwick High School, Jim worked as a carpenter until enlisting into the United States Air Force in 1952. On July 27, 1952, while on leave, Jim was united in marriage to Donna Jean Wergeland and the couple made their home in Louisiana where Jim was stationed. Following his honorable discharge, the couple returned home and began farming. In 2000, Jim retired from farming but stayed busy with woodworking, golfing, and cribbage games with his Renwick friends and rehab buddies. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and on September 7, 2013, participated in the honor flight. Above all, Jim loved his family especially his grandchildren.
