GALT, IA - J. Eric Turner, 76, died Thursday morning at his home following a heart attack. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Clarion, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Eyler-Willim Funeral Home, Clarion, is in charge. Surviving are his wife, Reba; children, Harold, Spring Valley, Wis.; John, Galt; Mrs. Kent (Ann) Rudesill, Baldwin, Wis.; Nelson, Wesley; Mrs. John (Jean) Tessman, Garner; William R., Charleston, S.C.; James E., Marion; 32 grandchildren; brothers, Carroll, Point Comfort, Texas; Herbert, Hammond, Wis., Max, Clearwater, Fla.; and Wendell, Diagonal.
Mr. Turner was born at Adair, attended the schools there and graduated from Adair High School. He then graduated from Iowa State University, Ames, in 1928. Mr. Turner married Reba Nelson in 1929 near Cedar Rapids. They first farmed neat Adair and Lineville, and for 40 years lived in the Cedar Rapids area where Mr. Turner was first with the Sanitary Dairy and later owned and operated Cedar Rapids Hatchery. Later he was a rural representative with Cedar Rapids Gazette until his retirement. In August 1979 he and his wife moved to Galt. Mr. Turner was a past member for the International Order of Odd Fellows.
